On March 25 I was upset that Wikipedia was still incorrect about both the New Jersey State Guard and The New Jersey Naval Militia (Joint Command) According to Wikipedia both the Naval Militia and the State Guard are inactive. I have tried to correct this but it keeps getting changed. ( i have been attending drills for 22 years)

The day before Chris Christie was elected: When I first met the Governor I said, “the first thing I would like you to do when you get in office is to re-stand up the state guard.” He told me that,”help was on the way”. As I entered the diner, and subsequently ordered a hamburger, I wondered if the governor-elect (as it turned out) even knew what the New Jersey Naval Militia-Joint Command was: I had considered writing a follow–up letter. At that point the governor approached me and I started to explain that the State Guard (NJNM-JC) was made up of mostly of retired National Guard personnel and that the unit had responded during 9–11–01. The governor then put his hand on my shoulder, told me that he was a former federal prosecutor and that he knew who we were and that he would take care of it as soon as he got into office
I subsequently spoke to the governor again when he donated part of the proceeds from his gala to the NJ Family Readiness Council. I asked him if he would stand up the State Guard while he was there and he said, “We’ll try.”
At a later date I spoke to the governor again at a town hall meeting and I told him that if he stood up the state guard that day I would make sure it was privately funded the next day. He told me that I need to speak with MG Rieth: I told him that I had and that MG Rieth fully supported us. (He told me that the State Guard filled a niche and a need and he fully supported it) The governor said that he did not know what the problem was and that I should write to his office manager. I did-my letter was very detailed- and was told that the matter was forwarded to the office of constituent services; then nothing followed.
The NJNM-JC provides the Governor with Subject matter experts to carry out missions and is the back-up for the NJ National Guard.
At 1:30 Am on the 26th a cargo ship hit the key bridge in Baltimore. You don’t need a Naval Guard until you need one.
